Traces of You – A musical tribute to the Maestro Late Pandit Ravi Shankar by Anoushka Shankar and a team of internationally acclaimed musicians
Anoushka Shankar is an Indian Sitar player and Composer, and daughter of Sitar maestro Late Pt. Ravi Shankar. Among various accolades she has been thrice-nominated for a Grammy Award and was the youngest, and first female, recipient of a House of Commons Shield from the British House of Parliament in 1999. Not only has she been first Indian female and youngest-ever Grammy nominee in the World Music category but she was also the first Indian musician to perform at the Grammy Awards in 2006 when she was nominated for ‘Rise.’ Having performed multiple times at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall, Anoushka set herself apart at a very early age and has continued to grow as a multi-layered artist and composer and is a leading figure in World Music today.
Two years after releasing the Grammy-nominated ‘Traveller’, Anoushka returns with sensational new album ‘Traces of You’. The album’s music exists in an undefinable space between genres and she’s collaborated with the multi-award winning musician Nithin Sawhney to produce the music for this remembrance to her father.
