Gushing streams, cutting through the steep rocks, cascade from a height of 270 feet. The birds in the jungle chirp along to add to the harmonious rhythm which reverberates in the air. Apart from this, about 36 to 40 feet height, there is a 240 meter long canopy rope walk. This walk is a nerve tingling experience. This is the ambience created by the Talakona waterfall, the highest waterfall in the state. Nestled in the forests of Sri Venkateswara Park in Chittoor district, this perennial waterfall attracts picnickers, trekkers and travellers.

The sandalwood trees cover most of the forest area leave a pleasant, lingering fragrance. The forest is also rich with valuable herbs and medicinal plants, which gave it the status of a Bio-sphere reserve in 1989. As the stream passes through these plants, it carries their curative powers and grows to be rich with minerals. The falls attract several ailing tourists to a swim to increase the human body’s immune resistance. Wide variety of rare and endangered species of animals such as Slender Loris, Indian Giant Squirrel, Mouse Deer, Golden Gecko, Panther, Porcupine, Chital and Sambar are also found in the Talakona forests

There is a temple near the falls called Lord Siddeswara Swamy Temple. This temple is believed to be built by a devotee named Appa Swamy in 1811 AD. This Temple Attracts large number of devotees during Mahashivaratri.
