Green Building Congress 2019 – Hyderabad

Today, India is witnessing tremendous growth in infrastructural development. The construction industry in India is one of the largest economic activities. As the sector is growing rapidly, preserving the environment poses many challenges and at the same time presents wonderful opportunities for various stakeholders. In this regard, green buildings which are designed to use less water, improve energy efficiency, conserve natural resources and provide healthier spaces will play a catalytic role in addressing environmental issues and concerns.

Addressing this imperative, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has established Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), with a vision to enable sustainable built-environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in sustainable built-environment by 2025. IGBC is represented by all stakeholders of construction industry comprising of Architects, Builders & Developers, Corporate, Designers, Facility managers, Government, Institutions, Nodal agencies, Product manufacturers & suppliers, Service Consultants.

With a modest beginning of 20,000 sq.ft of green footprint in the country in the year 2001, today(16 April 2018) over 5,327 IGBC green building projects, amounting to 6.86 million sq.ft are adopting IGBC green building rating systems. This in turn has enabled India become one of the top 5 countries in the world in terms of largest registered green building footprint. IGBC aspires to facilitate 10 billion sq.ft of green building footprint by 2022 (75th year of India’s Independence)

To realize this vision and further advance green building movement in the country, IGBC has been organising its annual flagship event since 2001 onwards which has been evoking excellent response from the stakeholders. Over the years, the event grown significantly in terms of content, outreach and participation. Today, the event has consolidated itself as India’s annual flagship event on green buildings. Leading national and international stakeholders will converge at the event to share, learn and explore new growth opportunities.

Encouraged by earlier editions, IGBC is organising its 17th edition of Green Building Congress 2019 from 25 – 28 September 2019 at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), Hyderabad, Telangana.

The 3-day event would be marked by international conference, concurrent sessions, international exhibition and award programmes.
