India HCI 2019 in Hyderabad

Today, the domain of HCI is being significantly shaped by intelligent, autonomous and self-learning systems and technologies. The HCI and Design communities in both academia and industry are seeking an innovative competitive edge by investing in AI-driven machine intelligence. HCI has long recognized agency, the sense of human freedom to manipulate interactions with technology. Today, as our everyday agentive interactions increase the involvement of technology there is a need to examine the possible intersections between technology, human agents and the rise of intelligent systems in HCI. As we explore the overlap between HCI, the sense of agency, and interactions among humans and computers, an overarching consideration is to discuss the potential implications of self-learning systems for interaction design in a community of technology users and intelligent machine interfaces.

IndiaHCI2019 will focus and examine the interplay of human and machine agency in an increasingly complex world of intelligent HCI. We will discuss and build models of human-computer interdependency and new spaces of opportunity in HCI. As machines traverse the realms of intelligent decision making and predictive analytics what are the ways to reimagine human agency as an influential and invaluable force in HCI system building?

We will gather, for the tenth time as India HCI community and the first time in the city of Hyderabad, India, on 1,2,3 of November 2019, to gain deeper insights about agents and agency in the times of AI-driven intelligence. At a time when human-machine interfaces permeate the breath of situated to virtual and augmented reality, we endeavor to extend our inter-disciplinary capacities to address the question of the agency of humans and machines as intertwined capabilities. We invite designers, technologists and social scientists of all backgrounds to advance the value of research and enterprise participating in the 10th edition of India HCI 2019.
