Chinna Kuyil Chitra as she is fondly known, is a singer that has retained her charm for over 3 and a half decades with her voice getting sweeter with every passing year.

Chinna Kuyil Chitra who started off her career in 1979, as a playback singer for a Malayalam movie went on to become the most celebrated singer of her times who went on to work with all the leading music composers to deliver chartbusters.

Chitra has over the decades recorded more than 15,000 songs in more than 10 languages has been the most cherished singer of all times, some of the languages in which she has done playback for include, Telugu, Oriya, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi and Badaga to name a few.

The true recognition of her talent is the numerous hearts that skip a beat everytime they hear her sing and the never ending applauses that fill the auditorium while she performs. However there were many other accolades as well that were bestowed upon her in recognition of her contributions, which include 6 national awards, 3 Gulf Malayalam Music Awards(GMMA), 20 Film Fans Association Chennai Award, 4 Gamma Indian Music Award, Malaysia, along with numerous other film fare awards, all of which amount to a total of 132 awards, excluding the Lifetime achievement awards and other such special laurels and honors bestowed upon her.

These apart, she also prides of being the being the First Indian singer to perform at the House of Commons (British Parliament) and was also the First Indian female singer after Lata Mangeshkar to perform at Royal Albert Hall London.
