The consumer durables market in India is projected to reach a whopping USD 400 billion by 2020 and the production is expected to hit USD 104 billion by 2020. This creates an opportunity of USD 296 billion in indigenous production. At this rate of adoption, India is believed to become the fifth largest consumer durables market in the world by 2025. Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets are catching up fast and will be asking for more. Last year, India overtook the US to become the second largest smart phone market by volume and that growth continues in an impressive double-digit manner. Fitness and wearable technology have been fast gaining acceptance among the youth and fitness enthusiasts. Smart TVs, laptops, split ACs, personal care etc. are likely to see an upward trajectory.
