Internet and applications of internet are increasingly becoming important in every walk of life. Today, internet has become integral to economy, businesses, education, health care and likewise and has interwoven into the every layer of the society. Security of interventions taking place in cyberspace is of high Importance for any country. Cyber security is a vast and fast growing discipline with immense scope and opportunities for Indian youth to become cyber security professionals and also take up innovation and entrepreneurial venture in the Cyber Security Area.

Digital security is an increasingly important issue in our society. Cyber Security in India is gaining importance day by day. As India is going to be technologically well connected in the near future, we must ensure cyber security and telecom security. The ambitious project named Digital India would also require very robust and effective cyber security infrastructure and capabilities on the part of Indian government and its agencies. South Indian states viz; Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka are primary hubs of IT and IT Enabled Services in the country. These states are also major educational hubs and produce large number of IT , software and electronic engineers. The number of students specializing in cyber security is significantly low in India. With the adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) policy, the demand for skilled cyber security professionals in India is likely to rise in the coming years.

The Cyber Security Research and Innovation contests; sponsored by US Consulate, Chennai and implemented by Learning Links Foundation are a series of Hackathons in South Indian cities. Learning Links Foundation will be hosting a series of 6 different Hackathon in Bangalore, Mysore, Trivandrum, Cochin, Coimbatore and Chennai. These Hackathons are focused on creating awareness and developing skills in Cyber Security discipline, the platform is also designed to promote networking initiatives for students and budding engineers to inspire and enable skill development and innovation in Cyber Security field in India.

The members of age groups 20-35 years are eligible.

The hackathon incorporates technical workshop followed by idea-ting on the chosen problem statements.

Top 4/5 projects from each city will be selected for further development and mentoring.

The Finale will include prototype showcase and will be held in Chennai during March /April 2016.
