Microsoft Ripple Hackathon in IIT Hyderabad from November 1-2, 2014

Nvision, IIT Hyderabad is inviting all Developers and Designers for the Microsoft Ripple Hackathon.

What is Ripple?
Ripple is a foot controlled infotainment system being developed by Microsoft. Ripple uses a dual-screen projector set-up: one projecting on the ground and the other in front of the user. It uses the kinect to track the movement of your body and legs and has many potential real world applications. One example of such apps is sweeper app which is used to raise awareness on land mines.

Who is this hackathon for?

The Ripple Hackathon is for developers and designers who have the skills to build good HTML5 and JS apps. The SDK is easy to learn but we are looking for people who can build apps on new SDK’s.

What will you be doing?

You will be building HTML5 and JS apps using the Ripple SDK. Microsoft will brief you about using the SDK and will explain how to build and port apps for the Ripple platform. You will then be on a 24 hour code sprint.

Schedule:

November 1st:

9:30 AM: A preliminary round. This is very basic and anybody with knowledge of JS and HTML5 will ace this round.
10:00 AM: Everybody assembles and networks. An ice breaker session. This event is also about networking and getting to know other people.
10:30 AM: Microsoft will start its session on using the SDK and building apps for Ripple. After the session people will pitch their ideas for the apps and the best ideas will be voted and teams will be formed. Also, if there is already a pre-existing team with a good idea, they can continue on their own.
12:45 PM: Lunch.
1:45 PM: The hackathon starts. You will push your boundaries and make amazing apps for 24 hours straight.

November 2nd:

2:00 PM: You submit your apps. No late submissions are accepted.
