Hinges 2016 – Annual Tech Symposium of Sastra University from September 10-11, 2016
Hinges is the annual National Technical Symposium of School of Civil Engineering at SASTRA. Over the past years, Hinges has been nurtured by students and professors alike and has been immensely successful due to their very personal and deep involvement with it. The passion and micro-management shown during the previous years has helped Hinges carve a niche for itself, as the biggest and most successful departmental symposium SASTRA has ever witnessed.
With a whopping 300+ internal participants and over 200 external participants, Hinges’14 wasnt just a success, but a phenomenon.The theme for Hinges’14 was “Learning from past”, was a quest into the ancient Civil Engineering. Put in a nutshell, there were three paramount events, paper presentation, poster presentation and technical quizzes. We had erudite scholars from ONGC & Archaeological Survey of India enlightening us on the traditional building techniques used by our ancestors. Now that we have learnt from the past, we would like to take forward this knowledge to create holistic vision of a better tomorrow. “Bring into Being”, theme of Hinges’16 will play a vital role in encouraging young minds to come up with smart, innovative ideas on to shape Smart Cities, as it is the Civil Engineers who hold an upper hand in its development.
