You have an idea/concept, but are struggling to start building the story. Or you don’t know how to end your story, or where to start. The middle is vague for you. You know what to say, the theme of your story, but cannot find the right story for it. Or you have a story but you don’t know what the theme is. This lecture deals with these challenges and more. We also cover the Three Act Structure in this lecture and help you understand how to use the currency of minutes when it comes to writing for screen. We discuss some of the most practical tools of plotting in this lecture, with examples from work-in-progress ideas.
About the Instructor: Satyanshu is a National Award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter and professor of cinema. Satyanshu started his professional journey by writing poems for Vikramaditya Motwane’s Udaan and lyrics for Sulemani Keeda and Ferrari Ki Sawaari. His directorial debut was a Kashmiri short film Tamaash, which won several awards at different film festivals, including a National Award. Satyanshu has conducted screenwriting courses at Anupam Kher’s ‘Actor Prepares’ as well as workshops across India. He is the mentor at AIB’s ‘First Draft’ screenwriter residency programme. During the COVID-19 pandemic Satyanshu launched a fundraising initiative by conducting online lectures on cinema. Satyanshu’s debut feature film Chintu Ka Birthday was recently released to critical and popular acclaim on Zee5. He is currently developing a series for a leading production house.
